This interactive workshop from Dr. Gwen Fisher will review evidence-based best practices for dealing with many sources of work-related stress. Workshop attendees will discuss various sources of work-related stress and learn proven strategies to better manage their stress levels at work, as well as how to support their well-being with reduced stress in the quest for better work-life balance.

Instructor Bio
Dr. Gwenith G. Fisher is an Assistant Professor of Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Colorado State University, and the Director of Training for the Occupational Health Psychology graduate training concentration. She earned her BA in psychology at Penn State and MA and PhD degrees at Bowling Green State University. Prior to joining the faculty at CSU, she worked at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research and IBM Corporation. Her research examines occupational health, work stress, and well-being. She has 45 peer-reviewed publications and has consulted with numerous organizations and workers to address issues related to job satisfaction, work stress, and work/life balance.
Learning Objectives
Workshop attendees should be able to:
- Identify common sources of stress in the work environment
- Understand the impact of work stress on mental and physical health and well-being
- Understand the importance of prevention and effective coping with stress
- Discuss strategies to prevent and alleviate work stress
- Develop and apply effective stress management interventions to reduce the deleterious effects of work-related stress
